The Noise Out ( The
Acoustic Shield is a semi-synthetic elastomer based sheet with a texture
surface on the one side and a pressure sensitive adhesive on the other.
The lightweight and flexible shield is to be used on the internal panels
of vehicles such as under the bonnet and bootlid. It
reduces road and engine/drivetrain noises and dampen body panel vibrations. It does this by dissipating vibrational
energy through dampening and altering the resonant frequency of the vibrating
surface. It also serves as a deflective sound barrier and an absorber
by converting sound waves to heat. The
Acoustic Shield’s open and closed cellular composition is said to achieve
the optimum balance between vibration and acoustic dampening. It does
the job with out altering the mass of the vibrating surface and incurring
a heavy weight penalty that comes from using alternative materials. Other
highlights include eliminating the ‘tin-can’ body note when you knock
on the panel, the antistatic feature so that dirt will not stick on it
but the Acoustic Shield can be washed, high temperature tolerance (up
to 105 degrees C), ozone friendly nature and weather durability.
