Kuala Lumpur, Mon.- The e-Cool gadget reputed to be the first in the world will be showcased at the Science and technology 2001 Expo.

The e-Cool is an intelligent, pure electronic solution to significantly reduce the heat and humidity in a parked vehicle. “It is capable of reducing temperatures inside the passenger compartment by up to 10 to 15 degrees Celsius;” said DAG Electrophonic Sdn. Bhd. managing director Darren Aster Gunasekera.

He said it kept the passenger cabin fresh without using an ionizer and lengthened battery lifespan by actively reminding the driver to properly maintain the vehicle battery, like when there is low battery fluid levels.

The gadget has an ultra efficient regulated power consumption with battery depletion fail-safe feature, which incorporates a battery watchdog function by alerting the driver when the battery is defective.

It significantly reduces the time required for an air conditioner to start cooling the passenger compartment on the vehicle start-up by reducing the green house effect and by keeping the evaporator coils cooler.

“The invention is a breakthrough as it is a multipurpose gadget,” said Darren. The Expo will be the company’s platform to launch the product to expose local technology and it hopes to gain some international recognition at the World Inventions in Geneva.

According to Darren, the product is undergoing tests with Sirim and will be priced between RM300 and RM400. The Expo will also showcase the e-Light gadget, which is an automatic light controller that will upgrade a vehicle’s lighting system to equal those found in luxury-class cars.

“It is the first Malaysian design using digital technology which has an automatic and intelligent control of a vehicle’s evening lights and headlights in all situations,” said Darren. He said it prevented the accidental leaving on of the lights.

Other products showcased in the Expo are the Vibramat Bonnet and Trunk lid Liner and the Vibramat Acoustic Tile. Both products are distributed by EON. The Vibramat Bonnet and Trunk Lid Liner reduces the engine and transmission noise intrusion into the passenger compartment.

The Vibramat Acoustic Tile was developed to modify the resonance of a vehicle’s body panel. It will be launched soon.
